The Slumber bag...another case of Overengineering...
I have been using Wiggy's bags for exactly 35 years this year. The first was a Desert Bag rated for 40*...used for just about all backpacking, camping and travel until 1999 when I bought a Nautilus...same 40* rating but much roomier.... But it was a little warm for indoor use when most situations are well above 50*...enter the "simple" Slumber bag.
As pictured on Wiggy’s website it seems simple enough. Lightest weight Lamilite, sewn-through construction so it will be as cool as the 50* rating states... As pictured, there is a full-length zipper so it can be used as a quilt...and no draft baffle to again being a "cool" as much as possible... So, two years ago I ordered one and it is exactly as pictured...and works great a "travel/slumber" bag...
Just before Thanksgiving last year I injured my back lifting things I should not have...had to sleep on a firm futon bed for 5 weeks and used the Slumber bag instead of sheets as it was much less restrictive. When I was able to go back to my regular bed, I started off using the Slumber bag on top of the bedding and loved it...no more heavy blankets to stay warm...so why not order a second Slumber bag and zip them together as it would be the exact size of the top of a Queen Size bed...and they were on sale!!!
...well what ones see isn't always what ones get...although the website picture was the same as the one purchased two years ago apparently the Slumber bag is now the Super Slumber bag... Once out of the shipping box the first thing that was apparent is the sewn-through stitching was gone.... now only the interior or the bag is sewn to the Lamilite, the outside is just like all the other Wiggy's bags... And the bigger surprise...it has an added draft baffle...
The two bags were zipped together and the "new" bag put on the bottom and original sewn-through on the top...works perfectly....
In addition, Wiggy's is throwing in a set of Sleep Socks for free and for an extra $10.00 one of their $37.50 waterproof ponchos.... The socks are much better to sleep in than the light wool socks I had been sleeping in...
So now that I've got a new at home sleep system, I just bought another Super Slumber bag for travel, so I didn't have to take the bedroom set apart...
Great bags.... Bob
Bob lives in New Hampshire where he is getting into the snowstorm so to my delight, he takes the time to write to us, he is writing to knowing I will publish his letter, so it is to us.
I certainly enjoy his testimonials because he goes into some detail of how he uses Wiggy products. In a few days he might write again about something of Wiggy’s he has been using outside once the snow stops.
MISSY
A few have written wanting to see a picture of her. Thursday she will be with the groomer for a complete bath ang cut. Then there will be pictures.
Initially when Cookie passed away several said to get a new pup. I gave it limited thought. I did call the breeder asking if there was someone with an older dog, she said no.
Two months ago, I received an email and pictures of a 4-year-old female that she had as a pet. She originally received her at 8 weeks thinking she would breed her. She never conceived so she became a pet. She now wanted to place her. The email came on a Thursday so I called and said I would be at her house on Saturday to meet Missy. She took to me, so I took her home knowing that she was house trained, knew about dog doors, I have the one in place that Cookie used so that was okay. it took her about two weeks to get used to being in the truck and going to the factory and in general what her new life was about.
She is a glutton for attention. In her old life she was competing for attention against 6 or 7 dogs. Now it’s primarily me and a little from Pum and Kok. She is exhibiting some traits of Cookie but, since she is with me 24/7 as Cookie was it is understandable. In general I believe I am fortunate because she is very easy, doesn’t bark, is a people dog, so as she comes in contact she waits to be petted as Cookie did, only if you didn’t pet Cookie right away, she would bark for attention.
Pictures will be next weekend.
