It started with one stubborn idea.
Jerry “Wiggy” Wigutow spent his life around insulation, starting as a 19-year-old salesman in New York’s Garment District. In 1986 he found a way to build sleeping bags from one continuous layer of fiber, with nothing stitched through it. He called it Lamilite.
Jerry could have cut corners to grow faster. He didn’t. He kept making his gear in America, answered his own phone, and stood behind every bag. Hunters, mushers, rescue teams, and soldiers trusted their nights to it.
What hasn't changed
A new family at the helm.
We know that night. Our own family has shivered through the dark in bags that promised far more than they delivered. When we went looking for American-made bags, we found Wiggy’s. It was the best night’s sleep we’d ever had outdoors, and it’s a big part of why we bought the company.
Jerry chose quality over growth when others didn’t. We’re carrying that forward: the same Lamilite, built in Colorado, with a real person on the other end of the phone.
One insulation. Everything we make.
Most bags stitch right through their insulation. Every seam is a cold spot. Wiggy's Lamilite is one continuous layer with nothing stitched through it. It breathes, keeps working when it gets damp, and dries fast.
Why Lamilite worksMade in our own Colorado shop
Every Wiggy's bag is made in our own Colorado shop. Wiggy's has never sent the work overseas. When you call with a question, you're talking to the people who make your gear.
